The goal of Expensemate is to be a drop-in replacement of existing email conversations between finance departments and staff for expense tracking. This is achieved by staff emailing an agent to submit expenses, the agent emailing approval requests to managers, and the agent formatting a complete compliant report.
The benefits of this approach include:
- Adaptability to different accounting systems. Changing report output format is a schema change, not a UI rewrite.
- Reduced cost. Instead of a dedicated mobile app to submit expenses, email is used instead.
- Ease of use. Expense information can be dumped into an email while the agent handles parsing.
